Founded in 1952, the Department of Hydraulic Engineering at Tsinghua University was early known as the Water Conservancy Team of the Department of Civil Engineering. It now comprises one state key laboratory (State Key laboratory of Hydroscience and Engineering), and six institutes, i.e, the Institute of Hydraulic structures Engineering, the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, the Institute of Hydrology and Water Resources, the Institute of River Research, the Institute of Hydraulic Research, and the Institute of Projet Management and Construction Engineering. DHE offers doctoral programs for applicants devoted to research and pursuit of a career in the fields of water science and engineering. The master programs aim at equipping students with solid theoretical and systematic professional knowledge and the ability to tackle issues in water science and engineering.

Highlights

  • The DHE has been ranked TOP five in the field of Civil & Structural Engineering according to the QS World University Rankings in 2018 (5th) and 2017 (tied 5th).
  • With a comprehensive network of education and research facilities. the DHE is dedicated to motivating innovative and groundbreaking research.
  • A Flexible and inspiring course program is designed to help students fulfill their potentials and broaden their horizons.
