Shanghai International Shipping Center-Yangshan Deep Water Harbour Phase I, still under construction. The harbour is being constructed with beams and slabs supported on piles and covers a total area of 1.7km2. The approach channels were dredged for 10.43km to enable the 1,600m quay to accommodate sixth generation container carriers.
Yanshan deep water port, (phase I) has five 16m depth berths total 1600m in length. The port has the capacity for large and overlarge container carriers of up to 340m long, 45m wide and 100,000 DWT in weight (fifth and sixth-generation container carriers).
