Macao International Airport was constructed on an artificial reclaimed island created by CHEC. The project was started in March, 1992 with the total contract value being 1.05 billion US dollars. The platform is situated off the coast of Taipa Island opposite Jijing Mountain and covers an area of 192 hectares. CHEC’s contract comprised three major projects: the runway platform, the terminal area and the two linking bridges to the mainland. The airport and runway are suitable for the Boeing 747-400 and were designed to the CAT international standards.
