On March 3, the “Genting No. 2” open-type Hard Rock Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) for the Genting Tunnel of the CCCC ECRL Project completed an excavation length of 6,000m.

In order to ensure the safe and efficient excavation of TBM, the ECRL Division 7 strengthened the daily maintenance of on-site equipment, made timely records for frequent problems, scientifically analyzed the reasons, and quickly solved the problems. For the sections with large changes in surrounding rock, the method of combining advance geological forecast and advance drilling hole was adopted to verify each other and related materials were prepared well, which effectively saves time and improves the efficiency of TBM.

At present, the tunnel face at the entrance of “Genting No. 2” tunnel is only 62m away from the drainage point on reverse slope. In order to ensure the safety of subsequent construction, the project construction team has developed a special construction plan for drainage on reverse slope in advance, disclosed it to all on-site personnel, and put in place the drainage equipment, chemical grouting water shutoff materials, emergency drainage materials and corresponding spare parts required for the construction, and thus passed the debugging and acceptance.

The “Genting No. 2” TBM completing an excavation length of 6,000m is an important result of the project’s response to the labor competition of “ensuring safety, creating high-quality products and winning the battle on all fronts”. In the next step, the ECRL project will strictly follow the special construction plan for drainage on reverse slope, optimize the construction process in combination with the actual situation on the site, and continue to summarize methods and experience, so as to provide a reliable and powerful reference basis for the “Genting No. 1” reverse slope construction and ensure the safe and efficient completion of the production targets in 2024.
