On March 12, the ECRL Sixth Division in Malaysia announced another piece of good news. Both Teras Tunnel (15# Tunnel) and the Telut Tunnel No. 2 (20# Tunnel) were successfully completed on the same day, which are also the 14th and 15th tunnels among the 18 tunnels that have been completed by the Sixth Division.

The two tunnels completed this time are double-line single-hole tunnel. Teras Tunnel, 220m long, is mainly built through V-grade surrounding rock, which is weak, leading to difficult construction and high safety risk. Telut Tunnel No. 2 is 373m long. The V-grade surrounding rock section is 152m long and the shallow-buried section is 190 meters long, accounting for 48%. The surrounding rock is weak, rich in water, and shallow in burial depth. And affected by the rainfall in rainy season, the exit section suffers large settlement deformation, so CRD is adopted, which is risky in construction and difficult in deformation control.

Since the commencement of the tunnel, the Sixth Division has adhered to the concept of “Win-win Cooperation”, all construction personnel have overcome difficulties, worked together, firmly established the sense of mission to better the company’s self-operated projects, and won the battles in tunnel construction. In the next step, the Sixth Division will resolutely implement the spirit of the commanders’ meeting, take safety management as the main line, be careful throughout the process, and strive to achieve a perfect completion of the tunnel construction in 2023 in high spirit.
