The Prime Minister of Solomon Islands Attends the Opening Ceremony of the Munda Airport Runway Upgrade Project

On the morning of October 10, Manasseh Sogavare – Prime Minister of Solomon Islands attended the opening ceremony of the Munda Airport Runway Upgrade project undertaken by CHEC. His Excellency Ding Yonghua, Charge d’Affaires ad Interim of the Chinese Embassy in Solomon Islands, the Minister and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation of Solomon Islands, the Minister and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of Solomon Islands, Solomon Islands Company and Airport Company and other senior government officials were also present.

In his opening speech, Moises, Permanent Secretary of Ministry Civil Aviation, spoke highly of the contributions made by CHEC to the project, expressed his satisfaction with the early completion of the project and ultra-high-standard construction, and hoped that the two sides would strengthen cooperation in the field of civil aviation in the future.

In his speech, Manasseh Sogavare – Prime Minister of Solomon Islands gave an “Excellent” to the implementation of the project by CHEC, saying that the launch of the project is another manifestation of the successful implementation of Solomon Islands’ national development strategy and plays an important role in the economic development of the Western Province.

Munda Airport Runway Upgrade Project takes only 9 months from its commencement its completion. The construction team of the project department overcome many difficulties, such as construction in rainy season, non-stop construction, material deployment difficulties and so on, and obtained the completion acceptance certificate in August 23 in advance, which fully reflects CHEC’s business philosophy of “excellent quality, outstanding brand”, and successfully present a gift to the 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. In the next step, the South Pacific Regional Management Center will adhere to CHEC’s “1248” strategy, do a good job in the coordination of Solomon Islands’ 2016-2035 National Development Plan and the “Belt and Road” Initiative, and make contributions to the economic and social development of Solomon Islands.
