The TMB Tunneling for ECRL “Genting 2” Exceeds 2,000m

A few days ago, the TMB tunneling of ECRL “Genting 2” exceeded 2,000m, marking another important advance in the construction of Genting Tunnel and laying a foundation for the project to be completed on schedule with high quality.

The Genting Tunnel is a two-hole single-track tunnel with a total length of 16.39km, which will be the longest tunnel in Southeast Asia when completed. As a key control project of the whole line of ECRL, Genting Tunnel adopts the construction method of “same-direction tunneling + drilling-blasting construction”, which is highly difficult and faces multiple pressures such as strict environmental protection requirements, difficult organization and coordination, and widespread social influence.

Based on the TBM tunneling experience of “Genting 1”, the project management team optimized the working procedure, tunneling parameters and site management according to the on-site construction conditions, and made scientific adjustments in the aspects of tool changing procedure, tool management, tunneling operation, locomotive formation, etc., which provides a strong guarantee for the follow-up work of Genting Tunnel. 

The fact that TBM tunneling for “Genting 2” exceeded 2,000m is another achievement of ECRL in the “Six Competitions, Six Creations · Sci-tech, Management and Quality-oriented First-Class Enterprise Cup” Labor Competition of CCCG and CHEC. In the follow-up work, the project will continue to adhere to the concept of high-quality development, constantly optimize the construction organization of Genting Tunnel, give full play to the effectiveness of TBM, constantly summarize the implementation experience, and realize the continuous safe and rapid tunneling of Genting Tunnel.
