A New Upsurge of Civil Construction! Good News from the Sixth Division of the East Coast Rail Link Come One after Another

Recently, the sixth division of East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) has presented good news in bridge construction, tunnel construction, T-beam erection one after another, making a good start for the construction task in 2023, and starting the labor competition themed on “build high-quality projects, ensure safety, and set off a new upsurge of civil construction”.

On February 10, with the last cubic meter of concrete successfully entering the “No. 0 Segment” of Continuous Beam No. P21 Pier of No. 10 Bridge, the sixth division formally completed the concrete pouring work for No. 0 Concrete Block under CH344+139-CH344+252 continuous beam construction. Support method was adopted for this pouring, which was completed at a time. The project department ensured the smooth completion of the pouring through scientific planning, careful organization, strict technical disclosure and reasonable arrangement of construction plan.

On February 11, the first continuous beam of the E8 Expressway Super-large Bridge (No. 9 Bridge) by the Sixth Division was successfully closed, marking a new step in the construction of the project’s continuous beam. The main pier of the continuous beam is 6.5m tall, crossing E8 Expressway’s ramp, which requires construction in the ramp and closed area of high-speed mainline. As a result, due to the adverse working environment, such as working at heights, cradle construction and traffic control, as well as rainy season, tight schedule and high security risk, the on-the-spot construction construction is difficult, and it became a key and difficult part of bridge construction by the Sixth Division. The project department successfully completed the pouring task by making overall planning, developing a reasonable construction plan based on the schedule, safety and quality, optimizing resource allocation, and monitoring the site in real time.

On February 12, the sixth division of ECRL held the dark hole opening ceremony at the exit of Tunnel 6#, which means the tunnel construction has entered the home stretch. Tunnel 6# is a 300m-long, single-hole and double-line tunnel, with the maximum buried depth of 37m. Composite lining structure is adopted for this tunnel, which is built under the condition of Ⅴ-grade surrounding rock. However, The designed backfill at the entrance of the tunnel and mountain bias, added great difficulty to the construction safety. The project department flexibly adjusted the construction plan; and the on-the-spot team faced the difficulties. They actively responded to the policy of “strengthening management emphasizing safety, and ensuring output value”, proactively overcame the complex geological characteristics of the tunnel, organized scientific construction accurately, and overcame many difficulties in the rainy season, such as the poor geology of surrounding rock of the tunnel, great impact on material transfer of the tunnel by rainfall and the entry of the third-country workers, so as to promote the project construction quickly, making contributions to ensuring that the annual output target is achieved.

On the same day, as the erection of four T beams of Bridge 39# was completed successfully, the sixth division of ECRL smoothly started the erection of T beams for Maran Beam Yard, and another major construction node of the sixth division was realized in advance. Before the erection of T beams, the six division held special meetings for many times to formulate detailed construction plans for the installation, debugging and inspection of bridge girder erection equipment, T beam lifting, T beam transportation, road safety control, T beam hoisting and erection, temporary reinforcement and other links, and carried out detailed and strict safety technical disclosure to the management personnel and construction teams to ensure that the operation was carried out in strict accordance with the technical disclosure, to ensure the safety of T beam transportation and erection, and to achieve the successful erection of the first beam for Maran Beam Yard.

The sixth Division will continually take the initiative to keep pace with the instructions of “three centers”, go all out to implement the spirit of the company’s work meetings, closely focus on the two main lines of “output value” and “key lines”, give full play to the management initiative of CHEC’s self-run projects, make an overall plan for the project implementation, and seize the opportunity of the company’s “Year of deepening high-quality development” to deliver excellent results.
