Recently, as the tower crane put the last bucket of concrete in place, ECRL has successfully completed the mid-span closure of the 108m-long continuous beam of the Dungun River Super-large Bridge, and the last “obstacle” of the T beam erection of the ECRL Division 4 has been broken through, and the T beam erection will usher in the important stage of fast construction.

The Dungun River Super-large Bridge spans the Dungun River, the largest freshwater river in Terengganu, with a length of about 1,467m, comprising a section of 64+108+64m continuous beams and a 38-span simply supported T-beam bridge. Due to the shortage of personnel caused by the epidemic in the early stage, the construction efficiency only reached 15 days/section, and the construction progress was once delayed for more than 1 month. This February, after the lockdown was lifted, based on the requirements of the node plan, various departments of the Division acted according to the situation, re-sorted out the construction organization, increased personnel input, made meticulous efforts to achieve field management, implemented the reward and punishment system, and insisted on managing people by system and assigning responsibility to specific persons, which improved the construction efficiency to 10-12 days/section. As a result, the schedule was caught up with, and the bridge was closed 26 days ahead of schedule.

Dungun River Super-large Bridge is a key control project of Section A of the project. The successful closure of the whole bridge marks that Division 4 enters the most critical node of the overall construction. The project management team of ECRL will continue to strengthen the organization to promote the overall quality and efficiency of the project with the goal of “promoting safety, quality, production, management and efficiency”, so as to ensure the completion of the beam construction progress and the overall construction plan nodes on schedule, and complete the annual target tasks of 2023 with high quality and efficiency.
